The 70th Republic Day was celebrated with fervour and dignity by the Students and Staff of St. Stephen’s Global School. The tricolour was hoisted by Chairman-Jacob Group of Schools, Mr Benjamin Jacob. With the unfurling of the National flag, the school saluted and National Anthem was sung. The students then took a pledge to stand true to the Nation. The school choir group presented a song praising the tricolour.
The Chairman Mr Benjamin Jacob & the Director Mr Stephen Jacob were escorted to school ground by the Senate members.
The school choir presented the patriotic song “Aye Watan Watan Mere, Abad Rahe Tu”. The whole school joined the choir and the song reverberated in the surroundings. It was followed by beautiful folk dances from Kerala, Punjab, Assam, and Bengal. The melodious music and graceful movements of the dancers were spellbinding. It was followed by a wonderful dance performance by the children on "Rani Laxmi Bai".
The Principal, Mrs Natasha Jacob, then addressed the school highlighting the significance of republic and apprised them of the responsibilities they have to fulfil being the future citizens of India.
Republic Day celebration was a deeply enriching experience for the students as the array of events that were organised gave them a direct connection to their roots. They discovered the joy of learning about the richness of our nation and its culture. The students dispersed with the image of the fluttering tricolour in their minds.
